Andrew Lerman is one of our newest partners in First Choice Neurology. Dr. Lerman is a board certified neurologist practicing in the community of Miami, FL and services Doctor’s Hospital, University of Miami Hospital, and Baptist Hospital. His offices are located at University of Miami Hospital and Coral Gables.
Dr. Lerman completed his Neurology residency training locally at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital. During his training he developed a special interest in caring for patients with various forms of seizure disorders. He recently completed his fellowship in neurophysiology and epilepsy at New York University Elaine A. and Kenneth G. Langone Medical Center, under the supervision of his mentor Dr Orrin Devinsky. Dr. Lerman is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and is an active member of the American Epilepsy Society, American Academy of Neurology, and Epilepsy Foundation of Florida. He performs a variety of procedures at his practice as well as in the hospital. In his office he performs both routine and prolonged electroencephalography, electromyography, nerve conduction tests, evoked potentials, peripheral nerve blocks, and EMG-guided Botox chemodenervation for migraines. In the hospital, he performs long term video electroencephalography for diagnosis of various neurological disorders including epilepsy and non-epileptic seizure disorders as well as pre-surgical work up for candidates of epilepsy surgery. He is trained in intra-operative electrocorticography and language and motor mapping, as well as Wada testing.
Dr. Lerman’s clinical interests include the diagnosis and long-term management of patients suffering from seizure disorders, and those afflicted by both neuro-cognitive and neuro-psychiatric disorders. He treats both adults and children suffering from seizure disorders and provides care for young adults and adults with various neurological diseases including headaches, concussion, stroke, epilepsy, neuropathies, movement disorders, neuromuscular disorders, memory disorders, Alzheimer’s disease, traumatic brain injury, and various neuro-inflammatory disorders.
Dr Lerman is closely connected to the community in Miami, having grown up as well as completed his training in Miami, and speaks both English and Spanish. He aims to expand access to whatever neurological needs this community may have and to ensure the provision of the most personalized and up-to-date approaches to medical care, guided by principles including access, availability, trust and reliability. It is his belief that not only does a personalized approach setup a positive relationship with his patients, but it has a significant and positive impact on the neurological course and outcome of the patients he cares for.
